Château du Grand Bos 2005

Perhaps you meet her on the train. You’re travelling from Paris to the Bordeaux Saint Jean train station, and the heady aroma of her, all forest floor and plummy perfume, is intriguing. Her garnet lipstick and matching nails are elegant, yet rustic in the right way. You taste her, and she’s dark plum and cherry fruits, but not too sweet. Subtler hints of cedar, mushroom, tobacco and cloves belie her maturity. Always ready for a good meal, especially red meat and most any french sauce. Nothing too pretentious, but a very fair old school BDX. Body, structure, acidity, tannins all fair, balanced. Mature, on the dry side, with a minerally finish. Let it decant a good couple of hours before romantic candlelit dinner.
